October Lure of the Month – Henrieta Crank Bait by CatchemCaro Bait Co.

CatchemCaro Crank Bait Henrietta Deep Diver

This is a huge crankbait, cellphone for comparison. This bait will dive 8 to 12 feet.

CatchemCaro baits are completely custom, hand-made from poplar wood and dressed with all stainless steel hardware. The lips are hand made from Polycarbonate and each bait is hand painted and protected with two coats of an epoxy clear coat finish. Each bait is tested by CatchemCaro owner Rich Caro at Spring Lake, CA near his home, to ensure they all run true before being packed to ship all over the globe.

The Henrieta Deep Diving Crank Bait was designed and first produced by Rich Caro in July 2010. The bait is named after Rich’s grandmother. Each bait is hand painted with 12 different colors and protected with two coats of epoxy clear coat. Each bait is tank tested and trued so they run as designed. These crankbaits come in four different size lips, two round lips and two coffin lips:

100 series medium round lip dives 4 to 8 feet.
200 series large round lip dives 8 to 12 feet.
300 series small coffin lip dives 6 to 10 feet.
400 series large coffin lip dives 10 to 14 feet.

Rich uses a 7 foot medium/heavy action rod with 10 to 25lb test line. These big baits catch big fish so always be sure to have your drag set correctly. The Henrieta is 5.5″ long, 3/4″ wide and 2″ tall, sports 3d eyes, 2/0 VMC hooks, 40lb snap rings and stainless steel hardware.

This month, RoundValleyFishing is giving away the Uncle Manny Minnow wake bait pictured above. The Bait is named after Rich’s uncle Manuel who was a very big inspiration in Rich’s fishing and family life. The 6″ Uncle Manny Minnow wake baits come in 18 fish catching colors. Each bait has two coats of epoxy clear coat. They also do custom paint jobs. The wake baits have all stainless steel hardware, 40# split rings and #2 VMC extra sharp treble hooks.

The Uncle Manny Minnow will push a HUGE wake when retrieved very slowly on the surface. These make awesome night-time baits, but any time when the topwater bite is on, cast out, let the bait remain motionless for several seconds then begin a very slow retrieve keeping the lure on the surface. In Round Valley, big bass will more than likely see this as a trout in distress and move in for the easy meal.

You can also speed up your retrieve and the Uncle Manny Minnow will dive down to 3 or 4 feet. Whether letting the bait float motionless at the top of the water or ripping it, the lure mimics a fish that is having a very bad day!

CatchemCaro Lures Have Arrived

We received CatchemCaro Bait Company’s Lure of the Month lures today. I nearly fell out of my seat when I opened the box. The Quality and Craftsmanship of these lures is impressive as is the paperwork that comes with each lure. Both have a little history on the lure and instructions on how to fish them as well as a limited lifetime warranty to repaint or replace any lure that is worn out! Rich even fishes every lure before it is boxed to make sure it runs true.

Look at the size of the crankbait! It’s bigger than my cellphone! Rich Caro caught a 7.2lb largemouth in October on this bait and he’s certain a fish that size lurks in Round Valley, indeed prior NJDEP gill net and electroshock studies have caught bass in this range. The crankbait will be given away in October.

Above is the Uncle Manny Minnow wake bait that CatchemCaro will be giving away in May. Its a topwater lure that pushes a huge volume of water when fished very slowly on the surface.
