May Round Valley Trout Association Tournament – Tomorrow

The Round Valley Trout Association will hold the second of seven monthly trout fishing tournaments for this year on Saturday May 14, 2011. The tournaments are open to RVTA members and nonmembers alike. The tournament runs from 5:30am to 2:30pm and you can register on the day of the tournament at the top of the concrete boat launch. $10 for RVTA members, $15 for nonmembers. The Reservoir has been stocked since the last tournament, so the results should be very interesting. Speaking of results, the big fish from the April tournament was a 5.76 pound 23.25 inch Rainbow Trout. Visit the RVTA site for complete results.

The tournaments are open to RVTA members and nonmembers alike. Next Trout Fishing Tournament Scheduled for 2011

The Round Valley Trout Association, which holds trout fishing tournaments throughout the year has completed their tournaments for 2010. If they use the same format from last year, you can expect the first fishing tournament to be in April of 2011. Stay tuned to their website for more details on the tournament schedule.

Round Valley Trout Association Tournament September 11

The Round Valley Trout Association will hold a Trout Fishing Tournament open to Members and Non-Members on Saturday September 11, 2010 from 5:30am to 2:30pm.

Registration will be at the top of the cement ramp on Saturday morning starting 15minutes prior to tournament start and ending at 11am. Classes of fish are Lake Trout and Brown / Rainbow Trout. Visit the RVTA website for complete tournament details and to become a member of this nonprofit organization.

The August tournament was won by a 7.2 pound Lake Trout and a 4.72 pound Rainbow Trout. Happy Fishing!

Round Valley Fishing Report August 8, 2010

RoundValleyFishing.com’s official boat, The Cougar Magnum, fished in the Round Valley Trout Association August 2010 trout tournament yesterday. It was a gorgeous day and my buddy Jay and I caught a lot of fish, None of which won the tournament!

I counted 12 boats in the water when the tournament directors signaled for us to start fishing at 5:30am, and more were being loaded at the two ramps as we motored away. Under way, everyone motored off to fish their favorite spot, The Cougar Magnum set up a slow 3 line troll along the north shore and then hooking in towards the middle of the lake. About half way there, we got into some Rainbow Trout, none of which were big enough to keep and one smallmouth bass… what was he doing out there?

After trolling for 2 hours and not catching a legal fish, we set up a drift in ~70 feet of water and just as the sun broke through the morning cloud cover, Jay hooked into and landed a nice lake trout. At weigh-in this trout was in first place… no one else had weighed in a Lake Trout yet, but by the time we left at noon, he was in 4th. Oh well there’s always next month.

Trolled the back end of the lake and caught nothing but largemouth and smallmouth bass. Saw a bald eagle around 11am, figure it is one the nesting pair which has been living in the Cushetunk Mountains for the last few years.
