Some people have asked, no special permit is needed to fish Round Valley Reservoir.
Round Valley Reservoir is stocked by the state of New Jersey as well as the Round Valley Trout Association (via private donations). All you need to fish here is a state of New Jersey fishing license and a trout stamp (No person between the ages of 16 and 69 shall take, attempt to take, or kill trout without a valid fishing license with a trout stamp attached).
You can now get your NJ fishing license online on the NJ Fish and Wildlife website.

Fish: One Big Fat Lake Trout.
I bought a new 9.9hp Mercury outboard for the boat so for the first few hours I was just putting it through the paces all over the lake. The motor performed flawlessly. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning!
Bait: Live Herring.
Location: Everywhere.
Method: Trolling fresh dead herring near the North Tower produced one hit. Drifting with live herring on the bottom in ~75feet of water produced the Lake Trout at about 20 minutes after official sundown. The Lake Trout, which measured 19.75 inches and 2.99 pounds, will be dinner tonight.
New Round Valley Fishing business cards have been created and are being circulated among local bait shops, friends, friends of friends, and at Round Valley Reservoir itself. As you can see, the cards feature a Lake Trout and our website address on the front and the Size and Creel limits on the back.
I hope these help fishermen and fisherwomen with the reservoir regulations and in turn I hope it drives more traffic to this site to get more people registered and posting. This site gets better, the more people participate. The cards are printed on premium glossy card stock and should hold up fairly well in a vest or tacklebox.
